Thomas Stephenson’s practice has recently focused on natural capital, the world’s stock of natural assets which are fundamental to human life. The mass exploitation of the earth’s resource, without time for replenishment, could lead to a local, regional or global ecosystem collapse. By designing and fabricating familiar household appliances, removing a critical part of their function, Stephenson explores the environmental cost of fuelling our domestic lives.
